Prof. Dr T. ASOKAN – Ph.D, M.Phil, M.Com, CIC (IGNOU)
Prof. T. Asokan had served at colleges affiliated to Kerala, Calicut and Kannur University for over 22 years and another 15 years at Kannur University, at the Department of Management Studies in various capacities. During his service at Kannur University, he discharged duties as Head, Research Centre of Kannur University, Head of the Department of Management Studies of Kannur University, Campus Director of the Thalasserry Campus of Kannur University, Director of UGC – HRDC (Academic Staff College) of Kannur University and Director, IQAC Kannur University. He has also served as a member of Board of Examiners and member of the Board of Studies in more than a dozen Universities. He has also served as Faculty Member of Kerala, CUSAT, Calicut and Kannur Universities.
Prof. Asokan was the Faculty Dean of Commerce of Mahatma Gandhi University, Kottayam for a period of two years from July 2014 to 2016. In the year 2015 he was appointed as the Pro Vice Chancellor of Kannur University and he vacated the office on 26th March 2018. After 37 years of service, he retired from the post of Professor from Kannur University on 31st March 2018. From April 2019 to March 2020 Prof. Asokan discharged duty as the Dean and Academic Director of Institute of Technology and Management Mayyil. During the Covid’19 pandemic Prof. Asokan was actively involved in online teaching to students undergoing their Masters in Management discipline and from January 2021 till March he served at SNES, IMSAR, Kozhikode as Senior Professor .
His teaching interest includes Financial Accounting, Financial Management, Financial Services, Financial Institutions and Markets, Managerial Accounting, Corporate Security Analysis and Portfolio Management. During his teaching tenure he has successfully guided 12 Ph. D candidates, supervised project reports of more than 100 MBA students, published articles, and written chapters in edited volumes, served as Ph. D thesis adjudicator for more than four dozen theses of nearly a dozen Universities across India. He also served as Chairman, Board of Studies and Board of Examinations at multiple occasions and member of Board of Examinations of other Universities and also visited universities in Germany four times.
